The Sub Antarctic convergence zone, where cold nutrient rich southern waters meet warm water from the southern pacific
tropical current, centres off the New Zealand coastline, producing high plankton productivity resulting in optimum conditions
for oyster cultivation.

areas we have an ideal environment for oyster farming which we compliment with a commitment to only produce a completely

JEMCO Ltd – The Company
JEMCO is New Zealand’s leading grower / processor / exporter of pacific oysters.
During the late 1990’s the decision was made by 5 individual companies to form a joint venture company - JEMCO Ltd.
The 5 companies involved comprise four of New Zealand’s largest and most established oyster grower processors - all with
extensive farming operations and with 90 years of combined experience.
The 5th company is Absolute Foods Ltd. Absolute Foods Ltd is responsible for marketing JEMCO product.
JEMCO had been specifically formed to develop new long term markets and today it represents in excess of 70% of New Zealand’s
annual production.
